MegaCrew

“The Society” is a high school Megacrew made up of young rangitahi from around the Taranaki Maunga. Dancers from Taranaki high schools audition at the beginning of the competition season to be part of the crew.

Since our 1st NZ Schools Competition in 2020 we have had great success, National Champions in 2020,2021 & 2023 with a second place in 2022.

This year we made the decision to enter the Society into the biggest Hip Hop comp in New Zealand, HHI NZ Nationals.. Competing in the Junior Varsity Megacrew division, we placed 3rd and have now qualified for HHI Worlds in Phoenix, Arizona in August 2024. This comp is seen as the Olympics of Hip Hop!

This is an awesome achievement, and an amazing opportunity.

Our rangitahi will take to the stage to compete with the best in the world.

55+ countries from around the world will be represented with over 3500 dancers, all staying and competing in the one location similar to an Olympic village. In-between competition days, dancers will have the chance to partake in workshops held by world renowned choreographers and performers. It is a place where like minded people can share their passion for Hip Hop culture.
